One of the largest tech-business campuses of Europe can be found in Hasselt, Belgium. Previously, this was the location of the Philips factory, but after a rigorous makeover, this area was repurposed as an innovative business centre. This comprises nine commercial buildings offering space to 250 companies and 5000 people. This creates a vibrant community where there is always something new to experience.
In collaboration with its Belgian sales partner, Derako was engaged to produce the Grill system for the ceilings and walls in the two central halls. In the first hall, a 1351 m2 solid wood Grill ceiling was installed. They chose American Ash as their wood type, in a transparent finish. With its light colour and beautiful flame-like structure, this wood type gives the space a very atmospheric appearance. The wood parts in the Grill panel have a thickness of 20 mm and a height of 50 mm. The spacing was set to 80 mm. The combination of wood with industrial elements gives a warm and robust appearance to the end result. This design fits perfectly with the atmosphere of the surrounding companies.
In the second hall, a 1240 m2 Grill system was installed in the wood type Pine, with a colour finish. The same dimensioning as in the first hall was applied here, so that a uniform and robust appearance is created.
