The linear wall system consists of solid wooden slats on a specially developed sub-frame. This construction consists of an anodised aluminium SLR profile, which depending on the specific project, come with boreholes for fastening a patented RVS clip. The slats are supplied in various lengths, but upon request, fixed lengths are also possible. The ends of the slats are connected to each other by a pre-tooled end tongue and groove joint. Different sizes and types of wood can be combined together. In complex projects, the profiles can also be marked to indicate the correct position in the work. This means a clear and prompt installation procedure can be followed at the construction site.
Derako works exclusively with solid wood. Each type of wood has it´s own natural characteristics such as colour, grain, structure, knots and size tolerance.

For the linear wall system, the slats can be produced in a size of a minimum of 63 mm to a maximum of 140 mm wide. This system can be completely demountable. The minimum joint size is then 12 mm. If you go for the system in fixed, then the slats can be produced in a maximum width of 185 mm. The minimum slat thickness is 15 mm. With the ingenious fastening structure, various slat widths, slat thicknesses and joint sizes can be combined in one system.
The Derako solid wood linear system is in various versions suitable as a sustainable interior wall. The solid wood slats are invisibly fitted by means of a specially developed sub frame, consisting of an anodised aluminium profile that has been project specifically provided with cut-outs for the attachment of patented stainless steel clips. Because of this ingenious construction this system is very useful for complex designs. It can be made to measure as desired and various slat sizes and types of wood and finishes, there are a number of possibilities for the appearance of the wall.
If there is a large overhang the linear wall system may also be used for outdoors. The wooden slats are then finished for exterior use. It is important that the wood is not directly exposed to weather influences. Not all kinds of wood are suitable for exterior walls. The Derako advisers will be pleased to inform you about the possibilities.
The linear wall system is also suitable for curved or arched applications. These can be applications in which the walls are curved or where they flow smoothly into the ceilings. The architect's creativity is the guiding principle and the system itself is not a limiting factor. Just as with a flat application, the unique carrier system comes completely prefabricated.
Thanks to the Derako carrier system and technical adjustments to the product, it is now possible to shape the wood for the slats naturally. Unlike curved ceilings where the carrier system is bent but slats remain straight, for this version of the system the curving is in the wood itself. In this way very special, organic and never displayed before, wall shapes can be realised.
By combining slats of varying thickness and width, you are able to give the wall a unique appearance. A random pattern ensures further reinforcement of the natural and casual effect, while there is a big choice of wood types and measurement combinations.
The wooden slats can have a planed, fine-sawn or rough-sawn surface finish. Depending on the request, the right type of finish can be selected in consultation with the Derako consultants.
Fire retardance is an important element for any wood application. To be able to comply with fire safety regulations, Derako systems are treated, if necessary, so that they are fire retardant. This is done by means of the vacuum and pressure method, whereby the wood is impregnated with a fire retardant substance.
With these treatments Derako makes sure that the slats and panels, used as a coating/finishing material meet the European standard EN13964. The treatment process is performed according to KOMO guidelines and is periodically inspected by the SKH so that the required CE marking can be employed.
As far as the installation is concerned, the linear wall system meets both the designer's and installer's demands. The light weight aluminium profiles can be outlined easily and therefore the assembly time on site is greatly reduced. The stainless steel clips are fitted to the profiles during the production phase. Placing the slats is done by manually pushing them onto the clips, and after that they are permanently secured in the slat's groove. For complex projects the profiles can also be marked to indicate the correct position in the work. Because of this an unambiguous and fast installation procedure can be followed. On delivery Derako makes sure the smallest details are taken care of. The linear wall system is delivered with assembly gloves and a pot of matching varnish, as standard. Under the tab 'Downloads' you will find an extensive installation manual.
The Derako linear wall systems are fully demountable. Because of the aluminium profile's and stainless steel clip's ingenious attachment structure all slats can be dismantled. In the Derako installation manual there is a clear description about how this works.
Wood is a natural product, very durable and lasts for years. Industrial wood processing has a very limited environmental impact and wood itself stores CO2. This helps of course to deliver environmentally friendly, healthy and responsible products. But Derako does more ...
Derako constructs and works according to the Cradle to Cradle® principle that not only looks at our present needs but also at the possibilities for future generations. Within the five Cradle to Cradle defined quality categories, we are constantly working on improvements.
Derako wants to be sure that all products have a lasting positive influence on human health and the environment. A lot of thought is given to the system- and finishing materials. For example the Derako varnish finish is environmentally friendly and the Derako solid wood system has a very low emission and A+ certified.
In addition to investment in the field of materials and production processes, Derako also invests in various certificates and eco- labels. In this way we meet the criteria set by the government on sustainable purchasing. Derako is FSC® and PEFC certified and delivers systems on request, and where possible we deliver sustainable and certified types of wood. The advisors at Derako will be delighted to let you know about all the options.
Derako also has a number of system designs that can make a substantial contribution in obtaining credits from BREEAM and LEED. Derako's advisors will be delighted to inform you further.
A wall application of the grill system consists of solid wooden slats that are fixed together with aluminium or plastic flexible dowels. Together, these assembled slats form the grill panel and are fitted into each other by means of half lap dowel joints. In this way one surface is created, without any interruptions . Just as for ceiling applications each panel is delivered to size, based on the building structure's data and in mutual consultation. The grill panels are, by means of wall clips, screwed directly onto the building structure's sub frame. There is no profile available for the connection length of the wall panels, but an open joint of at least 10 mm must be adhered to.
Derako works exclusively with solid wood. Each type of wood has it´s own natural characteristics such as colour, grain, structure, knots and size tolerance.

With the grill wall system, you can, at your discretion, determine the sizes of the slats and the distance between the slats. The minimum slat dimension is 15 mm thick x 31 mm high. The minimum distance between the slats is 17 mm at a maximum slat height of 35 mm. If the slat is higher, the distance should be at least 20-23 mm. Depending on the wood species and availability of raw material, a grill panel can have a maximum length of 3300 mm. The distance between the dowels is a constant of 300 mm and dowel has a standard diameter of 12 mm. On request and with a certain slat dimension, it is also possible to use a 20-mm dowel.
The Derako solid wood grill system is suitable as a sustainable interior wall. On the basis of structural data and mutual consultation, Derako will determine the exact number of grill panels and correct length measurements. The grill panels are, by means of special wall clips, screwed directly onto the sub frame of the building structure. Because of a wide choice of types of wood, dimensions of the slats and finishes, there are a number of possibilities for the appearance of the ceiling.
If there is a large overhang the grill wall system may also be used for outdoors. The wooden slats are then finished for exterior use. It is important that the wood is not directly exposed to weather influences. Not all kinds of wood are suitable for exterior walls. The grill wall system can also be used for curved or arched shapes. The walls themselves can either be curved or they can flow smoothly into the ceilings The architect's creativity is the guiding principle and the system itself is not a limiting factor. For a curved application the standard aluminium dowel is replaced by flexible dowels. Then the panels can be easily bent into the shape of the building structure´s sub frame and fixed by means of wall clips.
By using CNC milled panels Derako is also able to offer special made to measure solutions as well as the standard grill panels. With these panels very special designs can be realised. The special CNC panels also ensure, with a prefab delivery, a more efficient assembly and a reduction of costs. An example of this implementation can be found with the project Life Science Incubator.
With the combination of varying slat heights, widths and joint distances within the grill panels, you will be able to give the ceiling (wall) a unique appearance.

Designing a wall design with total freedom of creativity; this is not a problem for the Derako systems. In addition to various types of wood in a transparent finish, Derako also has a wide range of colours available. All versions of the wooden wall systems are finished as standard with a high-quality non film-forming varnish to protect the wood against moisture, dust and dirt. This finish adds a nice touch to the wood and the natural tones and structures are preserved. The wooden slats may also have a planed, fine-sawn or rough-sawn surface finish and for each application, the right system coating is determined that is necessary to properly protect the wood.
As far as assembly is concerned the grill wall system meets both the designer´s and installer´s demands. For the assembly of a grill wall project, the exactly made to measure grill panels must be fitted to the underlying building structure or construction by means of special wall clips. Each grill project is developed by Derako themselves, and in addition to the products we also supply a layout plan and a pot of matching varnish as standard. Under the tab 'Downloads' you will also find an extensive installation manual.
Because of the half Lap dowel joints the grill system is completely demountable. When using a demountable wall system incidental repairs and maintenance work can be carried out and when there is possible damage a grill panel can be easily replaced.
